MatchFit CLIMB Programme Overview

The MatchFit CLIMB programme explained

Borne of the belief that to truly impact behavioural change, one-off training sessions are not sufficient, the MatchFit CLIMB methodology has been designed to be a bespoke, modular programme that adjusts to fit the specific needs of an organisation over time.

Leaders and managers are equipped to create an environment where everyone is confident to speak up in an atmosphere of trust, energy for success, and transparency. Achieving this means that productivity, morale and retention are all impacted positively.

It takes time to uncover the root causes of performance issues and adjust accordingly. To deliver a sustainable high-performing culture, we believe that individuals and teams need to progress through a series of modules that have been tailored specifically to their needs.

Delivering the CLIMB

The CLIMB process involves a critical three-way collaboration between the central HR function, MatchFit and internal employees. The resulting programme is delivered as part of an agreed framework, which will usually comprise three intertwined phases:

The CLIMB process begins with Discovery to understand the underlying issues affecting staff performance.
A clear picture of an organisation’s key pain points is assembled through our 360 Analysis – detailed client intelligence (gathered largely via one-to-one interviews), feedback from senior leaders and all-staff survey forms. This intelligence forms the basis of discussions where senior leaders are challenged about responsibilities, deliverables, and team and individual collaborations.

Typically, this will involve a series of interviews with 12 staff at varying levels and in different job functions. The aim is to find dig down into the working environment: culture, communication, strength and nature of relationships, extent of collaboration, ease of providing feedback and so on.

Sponsoring managers are provided with a high-level overview of the interview outcomes and the work highlights the broad to be addressed in the sessions to come. A comprehensive report draws out all findings, clarifies the scope of the challenge and lays the groundwork for the recommended interventions.

From here, the CLIMB is delivered in stages based on the needs of the organisation and the direction of the sponsoring manager.

These sessions usually begin with the senior leadership team and might typically start with three stages that delve deep into culture, individual improvement and accountability, and challenging participants to undertake the actions they have agreed to.

After each stage, sponsoring managers receive an update session with a summary report. At the end of the programme, a Consultant Summary report is produced describing where the team was, what they did, where they are now and what future actions are needed to maintain their performance levels.

Ad hoc development requirements for the same or different groups may be identified whilst the CLIMB is in progress. MatchFit’s CLIMB Interventions can be employed to meet those needs.

Both HR Technical and Phenomenological Interventions are tailored to precisely address the organisational needs identified through the 360 Analysis.

Interventions focus on the capability and confidence of managers with regards to Leading Self, Leading Others and specific HR Technical Skills to drive performance culture and behaviours to support people and teams at all levels.
